Sitting around a campfire or dressed in heels and pearls. A country girl at heart with a love for travel. I craft a fun, lighthearted experience while filling galleries with serene, light, beautiful, classic images.
I believe in real moments. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together.
I believe in long walks along the beach or woods with my hubby, kiddos and a dog (or two) by my side… no really, I do!

My top tips for a
Plan for Sunset Photos – The light at Black Butte Ranch during sunset is incredible, with the Cascade Mountains creating a stunning backdrop. Set aside 15–20 minutes in the evening for portraits.
Choose a Getting Ready Space with Natural Light – Lodging at the ranch varies, so pick a space with large windows for the best getting-ready photos. Because the spaces vary so much, you definitely have an opportunity to select a getting ready space that fits the vibe of your wedding. Some of the vacation homes that Black Butte Ranch offers can be more contemporary or have more of a ranch feel. While all of them are great, just make sure you select a home with lots of natural light. Natural light makes a big difference and is always something I recommend when picking a getting ready location.
Have a Backup Plan for Weather – Central Oregon weather can change quickly. Whether it's unexpected rain or high winds, make sure you have an indoor option for your ceremony or reception.
Plan Activities for Your Wedding Party – Black Butte Ranch offers hiking, biking, golf, and spa services. Organizing a group outing before the wedding can be a great way to enjoy the venue.
Host a Welcome Party – Since many guests will be staying on-site, consider a welcome dinner or casual gathering at one of the ranch’s event spaces to kick off the weekend.
Factor in Travel Time Around the Property – Black Butte Ranch is large, and getting between locations can take longer than expected. Build in extra time for transportation in your timeline.
Be Aware of Lighting at Different Times of Day – The sun can be harsh in the afternoon, especially in open areas. Plan for shaded spots or opt for softer light in the morning or evening. As your photographer, I'll always put you in the most flattering light for portraits.

FAQ
Yes, getting ready at Black Butte Ranch is a great option. The ranch offers on-site lodging, making it easy for both partners and their wedding parties to prepare without the hassle of extra travel. Many rental homes and lodge rooms provide plenty of space for hair, makeup, and getting dressed. Plus, getting ready on-site allows for a more relaxed timeline and great photo opportunities with the natural surroundings.
Black Butte Ranch offers several great spots for family portraits, depending on the look you want. The open meadows with Cascade Mountain views provide a stunning natural backdrop, while the tree-lined paths and forested areas add depth and texture to photos. The lakefront is another great option, especially for soft reflections and a more peaceful setting. If you prefer something more structured, the ranch’s landscaped areas and rustic wooden fences also work well. I recommend choosing a location with good lighting based on the time of day, and I’m happy to help scout the best spot for your portraits.
As of now, sparklers are not permitted at Black Butte Ranch due to fire danger. I recommend checking with Black Butte Ranch to see if that has changed. While sparkler exits can be fun, I recommend opting for something different. I've seen some great exits, using other light sources, biodegradable confetti or other great options.

My photography style is a mix of documentary and guided direction, depending on the moment. During family photos and posed portraits, I take a hands-on approach, giving clear direction to ensure everyone is in the right place and looking their best. When it’s time for couple portraits, I guide you through natural poses while keeping things relaxed and fun.
For the rest of the day, I take a more candid approach, capturing real moments as they unfold. During getting ready, I might gently guide you toward the best window light but let the moments happen naturally. My goal is to document the day as it truly feels while making sure you look great in the process.
As a black butte ranch wedding photographer, I also work closely with each couple to understand what they love most about their venue. I highlight the best features of Black Butte Ranch in portraits while being mindful of areas they may not want emphasized. Every wedding is unique, and I make sure my approach reflects what’s most important to you.
I photographed my first wedding in 2009. While the number of weddings I take on per year typically varies. It's safe to say that I have shot well over 200 weddings.
