As an Oregon wedding photographer, it’s always a joy to capture couples’ unique love stories, and Mary Kate and Garrett’s big day was no exception. From the intimate moments to the lively celebrations, their wedding day was filled with heartfelt memories, thoughtful details, and so much love.
A Love Story to Remember
Mary Kate and Garrett’s love story began like many modern romances — on a dating app. Their first date at Proud Mary, a local brunch spot, might not have sparked immediate fireworks, but mutual friends encouraged them to give it another chance. By their third date at the Oregon Zoo’s BrewLights in November 2022, sparks flew, and they became inseparable.
Garrett recalls, “I even offered to drive Mary Kate 30 minutes out of my way to take her home, just to spend those extra minutes together.” This kind of dedication and connection was evident throughout their wedding day, showing the depth of their bond.
A Seaside Proposal
The couple’s engagement story is as sweet as their love. On September 2, 2023, Garrett proposed on the beach in Seaside, Oregon, near the Tolan family’s “Lobster House,” a favorite weekend getaway spot. Surprising Mary Kate with champagne and her favorite treat, Oreos, Garrett made the moment unforgettable. The celebration continued with family and friends joining them for champagne on the beach.
Choosing the Oregon Golf Club
Initially hesitant about selecting the Oregon Golf Club, Mary Kate and Garrett ultimately realized it was the perfect venue. “After looking at several other venues, all of our requirements led us back to the Oregon Golf Club as where we wanted to become husband and wife,” they shared. The venue’s lush vineyards, vibrant rose gardens, and elegant Rose Pavilion provided a stunning setting for their day.
Thoughtful Wedding Details
The couple’s vision for their wedding day was beautifully reflected in their decor and color palette. Each area of the venue showcased a unique theme:
- Ceremony in the Vineyard: Whites and greens complemented the natural beauty of the landscape.
- Cocktail Hour in the Rose Garden: White linens and colorful flowers created an elevated garden party vibe.
- Reception in the Rose Pavilion: Light blue and ivory accents harmonized with the bridesmaids’ blue dresses and Mary Kate’s ivory and beige gown.
Garrett’s family added a personal touch by designing a custom “Gibsons” sign, which was prominently displayed near the live band and dance floor.
Special Memories
From the emotional vows exchanged in the vineyard to the unforgettable energy of the live band, Mary Kate and Garrett’s wedding was packed with joyful moments. The dance floor was alive with their closest friends and family, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
