With Earth day happening today, I thought it would be a great time to dive into a few tips that you can do to make your wedding more Eco-friendly.
- Outdoor weddings during the summer can be hot! The last thing you want is somebody getting overheated. Avoid setting out a bunch of plastic bottled waters. Instead, opt for a refillable water station. You can rent glass cups and water dispensers. Not only will this be great for the environment by avoiding all the plastic bottle use but it will also give your wedding a more elevated high-end look.
2. One of my most favorite Images to capture on our wedding day is the couple walking back down the aisle for the first time after they’ve just been announced officially married. I love a great exit toss shot! Make sure when you are choosing what you want to have tossed at you that it is something that will be biodegradable and safe for the environment. Things like flower petals, dried flowers or biodegradable confetti are all great choices.
3. Rent as much decor as you can! If you do have to end up buying decor be sure to donate and not toss after your wedding.
4. Ditch the plasticware! Hopefully, you won’t be serving your wedding guests with plastic plates, cups, or silverware. Opting for proper dinnerware will not only give your wedding day a more polished look but will also reduce the amount of plastic going into the garbage. But your wedding dinner isn’t the only time to remember that. If you’ll be having a getting ready brunch with your gal pals, pick either biodegradable dinnerware or opt for reasonable dinnerware.
5. Donate your flowers! Instead of just dumping all of those beautiful floral arrangements in the trash after your day is over, donate them to someplace like a retirement community. Or if you know somebody with a compost pile ask them to add to their pile with your wedding day flowers.
6. If you’re opting to gift your guest with wedding favors or even a welcome bag. Make sure that we use our items that will actually be used and not just something that will get tossed at the end of the night.
7. When you’re making a registry be sure to actually register for things that you want and will use. Or better yet ask your guest for cash donations to put towards things like your honeymoon or a wedding album.
