2016 Behind the Scenes
Ohhhh Joy. It’s come to that time of the year again, where I get to share some behind the scenes photos (all captured by some of my amazing second shooters 🙂 ) and ya’ll get to have a good laugh on my part. Have I mentioned what a dork I am in real life lol. Well, I am! If you don’t remember have a look back at 2015 behind the scenes. Yah, it’s bad.
So grab some popcorn and have a few good laughs on me… Here goes!
First off, this summer I found floppy hats and I fell in LOOVVVEEEE with them! I am still growing my collection but for real, they are the best! If you photograph wedding all day in the sun you soooo need to get one (or two 😉 )
Apparently I didn’t’ realize I am often all up in people’s business lol. But the end result it so worth it!
Disclaimer, I do get my shot and move out. No, I don’t hang out in people’s face all day ahah.
ahhhh the little ones at all the wedding this year totally melted my heart!
For some reason I always find myself on the ground when shooting details. Side note! Yes, I will totally slap a veil in my hair to keep it from getting on the ground and wet or dirty.
Again, let me just get all up in your business and bustle your dress for you Anna.
I showed up to Garrett and Anna wedding completely unprepared (only outfit wise 😉 ). But in my defense we had just packed away our entire house into and enclosed trailer and moved in with my in-laws. So my outfit selection was very limited! Like two feet of closet space limited! But wearing open toed shoes to an outdoor wedding in March, in the rain wasn’t the best idea I’ve ever had ahah. Luckily, I swung into Bi-Mart and scored the only pair of rubber boots they had left, which also sort of matched my outfit and were in my size. Thanks for saving my day Bi-Mart 🙂
Lets play a game! Can you spot the photographer?! We are often shooting in very tight spaces but we make it work!
First I am pouring Champaign, then I am fixing dress, then we are posing, then fixes veils, then pinning boutonnieres on, then holding dresses ahaha. I get to be so much more than just a photographer and I adore it! To keep everything organized and connected on such a busy day, I rely on a Digital Business Card, making it easy to share my details with the amazing couples and vendors I meet.
That time I got to photography Brody and Matty beautiful wedding on a huge private ranch so the owners gave us our own side by side for the day 😮
Up close and personal again! But so worth it!
Sort of super jealous that Cat got the job of hanging out with JD and Desiree’s adorable dog Moose.
That Venue though:o !! I love Three Stands Farm in Lebanon!
When you lose your lens hood and the sun is super intense, so you have to make do with what you have which just happens to be your hand!
Another game of spot the photographer while trying to do group shots…
Dillon and Janie wedding arch by Elly at Shamrock Flowers was to die for!
Ok, Ok… so I almost deleted this one. But if you can’t laugh at yourself who can you laugh at?! ahah! Let me caption this one for you in an Australian voice. “As the ever so adventurous, always prepared with her big bag, floppy hat and shooting doubles photographer stocks her wild prey aka the bride and groom, she stops as she catches the perfect spot with the perfect light.” Also, I just realized that my camera bag and lens pattern match ahahah. <— That might be a joke only other photographers get 🙂
Oh Jordan… I have known ya for years and love ya like a little brother.
Jordan and Sarah had such a fun and special wedding (blog post coming). My brother, who has know Jordan since middle school was the best man and his wife was a bridesmaid. Love them both 🙂
I love the beach! I was so excited when I was asked to shoot a wedding at the Heceta head lighthouse. My hubby and I actually really wanted to get married there as well. So actually getting to shoot a wedding there was something I looked forward to all year.
We’re walking, we’re walking, we’re walking! Yay, for making it through a whole wedding season without falling flat on my butt or face. I am such a klutz and it’s even harder when you’re trying to shoot, walk backwards and talk at the same time! Go ahead, try it and then tell me how you think it is so easy lol. But when you get the shot, it’s so worth it!
If you all remember my behind the scenes post from 2015 you remember how vertically challenged I am. This year I figured out that if I stand in a large hole it works great!
This was me giving the bridal party a pep talk. “One more set up guys and we got this in the bag! Than it’s on to food and booze! We can do this! Let’s go!”
When you see a photo of yourself and realize that your dress which you totally loved up until you saw a photo of yourself in it, was kind of a bit short… :/ Then become super thankful you wear shorts under your dress at every wedding!
The calm before the storm. I am always a nervous wreck right before the ceremony. What if I miss an important shot? Did I get everything I need to get before the ceremony? Crap, which way did they say they were walking in from? What if? What if? What if? But then the music starts, all of that is lost as I get to watch and capture two people confess their love for each other in front of their family, friends and myself. Could you ask for a better job?
I wanted to get a shot of myself with each one of my brides and grooms this year but I managed to only get one and a half if you count the mirror selfie with my bride Amy getting ready. Hey I am counting it 🙂
Of course none of these awesome, embarrassing behind the scenes photos wouldn’t have happened with out the help of these lovely ladies who captures all of these for me.
The amazing Amanda Long, who happened to spot one of her photos on the side of the caters truck and yes, I made her pose by it:)
The wicked talented Cat! This chick is amazing! Not only was she a huge help this summer but she also is such a blast to hang out with! I promise she was just hold those drinks. We only drink on the job sometimes 😉 Just kidding!
The beautiful Amanda Skipper and her adorable baby bump! This girl has been with me for almost three years. YAY!
That wraps it up!! I can’t thank all of my amazing people I got to work with this year enough. You all are the reason I get to do what I love so Thank you!
