When Jake and Angel first told me about their dreams for their wedding I was immediately on board! The local venues just wouldn’t give them the feel or the celebration that they wanted. I knew exactly what they were talking about because my husband and I had the same feelings when we were planning our wedding. To us, a destination wedding in Maui sounded like a dream.
So they decided on a destination wedding in Mexico. We chatted about how much they loved the idea of having their wedding be a vacation for friends and family and having their entire week be a celebration.
Then enter the year 2020 and Covid. Angel said “With all the scenarios that can go wrong when it comes to planning a wedding, I never thought a worldwide pandemic would be the reason for me having to postpone mine. At first, I was stressed and unsure if I would even have the wedding I had spent so much time planning.”
Like any wedding, there are a lot of moving pieces when planning a destination wedding. I don’t think any of us could have planned for a global pandemic to start right about the time that their original wedding date was set. But life happened and unfortunately for Jake and Angel, they had to plan two weddings. Angel said “ Planning a wedding in another country can be stressful, adding in a pandemic made it even more so. My husband and I just had to cross our fingers and hope we would get a chance to celebrate our special day. When our special day came, it was full of so many emotions, happiness, nerves, angst, happy tears, and stress. “
Angel had this advice to offer about the time following their wedding:
“The few weeks following my wedding I was so sad it was all over. Getting all my pictures back I cried so many happy tears while looking at them….Your wedding day goes by so fast that it’s all a blur. I could hardly even remember what everything looked like, but Ashley captures every small detail beautifully. All the happiness, all the love, the moments I didn’t even know I wanted her to capture. I will forever be grateful to Ashley.”
I think all of their family and friends would agree that the entire time was a celebration to remember.
