As 2022 comes to a close, I can’t help but look back and think of what a wonderful year it was. Honestly, 2020-2022 seems like a blur that all blends together.
This year was a year of growth but also a year of slowdown for me. I captured weddings in California, weddings in Lake Tahoe, weddings in Oregon, weddings on the Gorge, weddings in Portland, Oregon, and family sessions from the coast to eastern Oregon and everything in between.
My little family did more adventuring this year than most. We made many trips to visit family who recently moved to Montana. Explored eastern Oregon more and traveled down the Coast for a family wedding in southern California. We walked in the redwoods and enjoyed the beaches of Monterey Bay California, and Carmel, California. We took in the Monterey Bay aquarium. We made our annual family trip to Cultus lake resort in Bend for a week of doing nothing but sitting on a boat, reading, and getting a tan…heaven!
To all of the people who have hired me and trusted me to capture your lives, thank you! It’s an honor that I take with grace and gratitude. I couldn’t fit in all of the wonderful things and people in front of my camera this year, but here are a few highlights from 2022.
An Oregon Coast Photoshoot
I started the year with an anniversary shoot on the Oregon coast. One of the best things about the coast is that no matter what season it is, it can always look like summer on the beach.
In-home Lifestyle Family Photoshoot
I have been lucky enough to capture an in-home Maternity photo session and a newborn session for Zach and Audrey in their adorable home that is a renovation in progress for them. This year I was able to continue that traditional capturing a sweet little first birthday session for them.
Family Session in the Great Pacific Northwest Woods
Anna and Garrett both live, work, and play in the woods. Every year, around their anniversary we load up in their truck (kids, dogs, snacks, and all my gear!) and we head deep into the woods. They usually take me to some magical, secret spot they know of to showcase their family and the natural beauty of Oregon. I love getting to catch up with them every year on the ride into the woods and I am always blown away and just how majestic the Oregon landscape is.
Oregon Coast Engagement Session
Steven and Michaella are having an east coast destination wedding next year. They both attend college in the Oregon area and wanted to capture all of Oregon’s beauty before they left after college graduation with an Oregon coast engagement session. For their session, they took me to the spot that Steven set up for a beach romantic proposal. Michaella said “YES!” to his proposal and I added a new spot to my list of favorite locations in Oregon!
Wedding at Tetherow Resort in Bend, Oregon
In 2021, I worked with Olivia and Spencer to create a Chic and Modern Engagement session in Portland, Oregon. I fell in love with them both and was over the moon when they asked me to be their wedding photographer for their destination wedding in Bend, Oregon.
Getting ready photos with dreamy light
Tetherow in Bend, Oregon is a resort that offers so much. From golf, and a spa to guest houses. The guest house that Olivia had for getting ready photos was so pretty and had the most beautiful natural light pouring in all morning.
Plan for all kinds of weather on your wedding day
Would you believe me if I told you that on their wedding day they had rain, snow, sun, strong winds and a rainbow? During family photos, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky but it was snowing. We quickly changed locations to make sure everyone would be covered. This in-between candid moment while we waited for the rest of the family is one of my favorite images of 2022.
Wedding Venue with a View
Hops Farm Family Session
This summer, Abby and Micah invited me out to their Hops farm for a maternity session. We wondering around the hops fields, dipped our toes in the river, picked potatoes from the garden, and danced under their favorite tree.
From an engagement session, a wedding day, and now a maternity session. It’s always an honor to capture them, laugh with them and just be around them. The joy and love they have is infectious and I always leave them with a smile on my face.
Boho-Inspired California Wedding
Andrew has always felt like a little brother to me and Charlotte quickly became part of the family too. They are our California family which shows that you don’t have to be blood to be family.
This was such a special day for me to capture and be a part of. Honestly, I would take being a wedding photographer at a friend’s wedding over being a guest any day. As a photographer, I get to be with them all day! I get to experience so much more than I would be able to as a guest.
Beach Engagement Session
Danny and Victoria wanted a session to capture Oregon’s scenery. We planned their session at a location that would offer a beach setting, a forest setting, and views of the Oregon coast cliffs. See more of their engagement session here.
Fall Family Photoshoots
This year for the first time in a long time I released petite family session. They were a HIT and sold out in less than 48 hours! Petite sessions get released via my email list, so join here if you want in on the next round of family petite sessions.
Griffin House Wedding
This year, Danny and Victoria invited me to shoot a wedding at the The Griffin House along the Columbia River Gorge. Their day was beautiful, intimate, and full of love. Guests played games and put custom-made puzzles together at the reception.
Wedding Details
Amber at Gather Events, a premier destination planning service, coordinated their day, and Starflower of Portland, Oregon designed all the dreamy blooms. Dream Cakes of Portland put together a flawless wedding cake.
Mountain Top Family Photo Session In Eugene, Oregon
Sometimes finding the perfect location literally means hiking to the top of a mountain, carrying all of your family’s outfits on your back the whole way up and changing at the top of the mountain. The Jones family is always up for new locations and all of my crazy ideas for their yearly family photo session in Oregon.
Modern Portland, Oregon Engagement Session
Yun and Brandan came to me wanting a chic and elegant engagement session before their wedding in Portland, Oregon. We quickly put together a mood board, outfits, and locations to showcase the two of them. By selecting a studio setting we were able to keep the focus on them.
Columbia Gorge Hotel Wedding
J29 Events helped Chris and Shannon plan and put together a relaxing wedding day at the Columbia Gorge Hotel. For Chris and Shannon, this was a destination wedding, so having a planner to help them coordinate everything from across the country was vital.
Heirloom Wedding Details
Shannon had a handkerchief with a note that had been passed down for generations. I love it when couples add heirloom details to their wedding day.
2022 Highlight: Wedding Featured in Bridal Guide Magazine
Every time I create with my camera I strive to craft images that not only stop my clients in their tracks but are also always magazine worthy. It was such an honor to have Joel and Liz’s Portland Wedding day featured in Bridal Guide Magazine.
Cheers to 2022
Cheer to 2022 and all of the joy, happiness, growth, adventure, and celebration it brought.
