Thurston High School Senior Mya’s Senior Photo Session

Senior year is such an exciting season, and one of my favorite parts of being a Eugene senior photographer is getting to work with local high school seniors as they celebrate this milestone.

For Mya’s senior photo session, we headed to Dorris Ranch in Springfield, Oregon. Mya is a senior at Thurston High School, and Dorris Ranch was a beautiful setting for her senior portraits.

Located in Springfield, just outside Eugene, Dorris Ranch is one of my favorite locations for senior photos in the area. With its open spaces, mature trees, and natural scenery, it offers plenty of variety without having to travel between multiple locations.

For Mya’s senior session, we were able to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings and create portraits that felt natural and timeless.

One of the things I love most about photographing high school seniors is creating a session that feels comfortable and relaxed. Senior photos should reflect who you are during this season of life, whether that means a few classic portraits or more candid, personality-filled images.

Why Dorris Ranch Is a Great Location for Oregon Senior Photos

If you’re considering Dorris Ranch for your senior photos, there are several reasons it’s such a popular choice for seniors in Eugene and Springfield.

The property has a beautiful mix of natural backdrops, including wooded areas, open fields, and the historic filbert orchards. These different settings make it possible to create a gallery with plenty of variety while keeping the session in one convenient location.

Dorris Ranch is also a great option for seniors who want a natural, classic look rather than an urban setting.

If you’re still deciding where to have your senior session, I’ve put together a guide to some of my favorite spots around the area.

Planning Your Eugene or Springfield Senior Photo Session

One of the biggest questions I receive from seniors and their parents is when to schedule senior photos.

While summer and fall are popular seasons for Oregon senior photos, the best time really depends on the look you’re hoping for, your schedule, and when your school needs your senior portrait submitted.

I always recommend planning ahead, especially if you have a specific season or location in mind.

I believe in real moments and chasing sunsets. In the kinds of images that remind you of the joy that can be found in the simplest of moments together. I believe in images that are itching to be printed, placed in beautiful frames, and hung on walls for years to come.

I believe in powerful love. Above all, I believe that love is a powerful force in the universe, and I want to preserve true love, beauty, light, and all the moments in life.
